Tracking Beauty Items that have long gone...
I've decided to keep track of all the products I love, that have been discontinued. I don't know if I am alone in this, but I find it hard to find items I absolutely adore and when I do, I tend to stick to them. Now, granted many of these products I would probably not use anymore due to their chemical components and the fact that for years, I have tried to steel away from Toxic Cosmetics and use only clean, healthy ones. However, there are some products that I just love regardless of their ingredients, because the outcome, in my eyes, is unparalleled to anything else on the market. The first product I'm going to talk about was a product I used back in 2002 (gasp! I know... a lifetime ago). Before highlighters were a thing known to the general public, they were a well hidden secret of make-up artists alone. When I was a touring Pop-Star, my wonderful Japanese Makeup Artist Shinobu, recommended I use this product under my other makeup and also encouraged me to dab this on my prominent cheek-bones and bridge of my nose. I always loved the "Dewy" and "Glowy" look, that made the skin look enviously healthy, supple and plump. Now more associated with Asian women. I've never liked the cakey, look. Anyway, this product was Dermalogica's Day Bright which also contained a slight amount of SPF (Spf 15). This was how Dermalogica described their product: A tri-active system that brightens, illuminates and protects skin during the day. The exclusive Brightening Complex of eleven active botanical brighteners helps balance uneven pigmentation while optical illuminators manipulate light and shadows to create the luminosity associated with healthy skin. An SPF15 protects against further UV-related pigmentation, enhancing treatment results. Fragrance free. * Illuminates the skin. (you bet it did!) * Protects skin against UV damage * Brightens the skin. This was literally my introduction to Luminous skin and I friggin LOVED it. I used it all the time, everyday until they Discontinued it in May of 2009. And they never quite got it right after that. Obviously, I had to go in search of another product that would be similar, but unfortunately for me, never the same. The wonderful thing this product had, was that the colour was perfect for me, not too gold, not too pink, not too orange, it went on so seamlessly. The pearl effect was so subtle and refined, and the texture just glorious. No glittery or clown-like particles. Simply perfect. The most similar product I found, after months and months of testing other products was Benefit's Moon Beam. And you'll never guess what? Yup... they discontinued that too. *rolls eyes*. Benefit's "Moon Beam" was the more Peachy counterpart to their "High Beam". I honestly cannot remember why I preferred it to High Beam, but I suspect it was purely a skin-match thing. It was also the closest I could find to my beloved Day Bright. This tone was not too Pearly White or Pink or Orange, but more subtle and natural. Needless to say, my affair with this product didn't last long, as Benefit discontinued this in 2012.
