The Mio Body Brush (in white) RPR: $22.00 I have been into these brushes since 2001, when I was a late teen. Having always been concerned with my weight and in turn Cellulite, many a books I have read, have spoken highly of the benefits of dry brushing. It feels good, even if the benefits aren't visible or obvious to me. Part of my ritual in the shower, I feel good after I do it. The brush on the RIGHT has been my faithful brush which I purchased in 2002, it was so long ago I cannot even remember, the likeliness is that I bought it at Selfridges (from The Organic Pharmacy) or Planet Organic. It has been fantastic, with amazingly strong bristles that have lasted and lasted (no shedding practically) as well as a sturdy wooden handle and strong rubber. I really didn't have any need to purchase a new one, other than the brush seemed to have had a good run with me, and I thought a new colour would blend in with my white marble bathroom. I had been looking for a while to replace it, but never found one I liked or with a similar brush to rubber bristle ratio. I finally saw the one on the LEFT on Net-A-Porter and automatically assumed, because of where it was being sold (high quality goods), the design as well as the price, that I would be receiving the same kind of brush. But not all Brushes are alike, I have come to learn. The MIO Body Brush is OK, but nothing more. The bristles are feeble and I hadn't even used it when it started to shed, right out of the packaging. The Rubber isn't as sturdy as my Faithful brush. The wood is Bamboo and feels light and cheap in comparison. It really doesn't compare. So I think I'll just send this one to my Mum so she at least has one in her home in the UK and I will remain with my Faithful one until I can find one that is comparable in quality. They say that for best results, brush using upward strokes through troubled areas (for me my thighs) from the toes all the way up the legs and using clockwise sweeps on the belly area. Up from the hands to the shoulders. I also like mimicking lymphatic massages under the armpit towards the top of the breast.
Do a minimum of three minutes a day, three times a week Brush on dry or wet skin What They Say: Proven to exfoliate, stimulate circulation and detoxify, body brushing is an easy yet effective way to rejuvenate tired skin. Slightly larger than the palm of your hand, it's crafted with natural boar bristles and rubber massage nodules. Hold it by the sustainable bamboo and cottonhandle, brushing upwards in the direction of your heart from legs to upper body. - Helps reduce toxins, bloating and cellulite - Use in the morning for best results My Verdict: I'm not a fan of the Mio Brush because I have my Faithful to tell me, that there is better out there. So, make sure you do your research and if possible buy it in person. When I purchased my one back in the day, online shopping wasn't as big as it is now, of course, so we were forced to go to the shop, touch, feel and really see things up close. Online shopping has it's charm and pros, but there is nothing like seeing something in person, especially something like this. Have fun searching and if you come across a really good Dry Body Brush, please do let me know.
